Adams Plastics supplies clear PVC vinyl film to the fabricators and manufacturers who build enclosures for pontoon boats, tents, restaurant patios, golf carts, ATVs, and more. We stock the gauges and widths that withstand outdoor environments while keeping visibility clear, whether you’re running high-volume production or building a custom installation.
Common Enclosure Applications for Adams Plastics’ PVC Films
Pontoon Enclosures
Clear vinyl used for pontoon enclosures and other marine vessel enclosures needs to resist fogging and UV degradation. It also needs to be highly durable. Our Prime Cristal Clear – Low Temp is the standard recommendation for these applications, the same formulation our marine customers use for boat windows and dodgers. It’s UV-stabilized and rated to -20°F, and fabricators building full-wraparound enclosures can specify our heavier gauges for added structure.
Tent Sidewall Windows and Party Tent Ceilings
Clear vinyl for commercial event tents needs optical clarity, flexibility for repeated setup and teardown, and UV resistance for outdoor events. We offer several clear vinyl options for tent enclosures, including Prime Cristal Clear – Low Temp and Double Polish Clear Soft for optical clarity, as well as Low Temp options for tents used or stored through colder months. For commercial event tents that need to meet fire-safety requirements at a regulated venue, our Soft Clear with Fire Retardant line adds flame-spread compliance on top of the same UV stabilization and cold-crack resistance.
Restaurant Patio Enclosures
Restaurant and hospitality patio enclosures go up and come down with the seasons, sometimes several times a year, and need to withstand that regular wear and tear. Double Polish Clear Soft works for standard installations. We offer a range of options for clear PVC vinyl for patio enclosures, including options with UV stabilization for patio enclosures that stay up through direct summer sun.
Golf Cart and ATV Cab Enclosures
Golf cart and ATV cab enclosures require materials that can flex without cracking at the seams, while remaining optically clear. Double Polish Clear Soft is our standard recommendation for both applications, offering clean optical clarity at a cost-effective rate. For applications where carts or ATVs are stored outdoors through winter, consider a UV-stabilized, cold-crack rated gauge to keep the material from stiffening in cold weather.
PVC Material Reference for Enclosure Applications
| ENCLOSURE TYPE | RECOMMENDED MATERIAL | KEY PROPERTIES |
|---|---|---|
| Pontoon / marine | Prime Cristal Clear: Low Temp | UV stabilized, cold-crack to -20°F |
| Tent sidewall / party tent | Prime Cristal Clear: Low Temp or Double Polish Clear Soft | UV + cold-crack for year-round use; fire-retardant option available |
| Restaurant patio | Double Polish Clear Soft or Prime Cristal Clear | Standard to premium clarity, UV optional |
| Golf cart / ATV cab | Double Polish Clear Soft | Standard optical clarity, flexible; cold-crack upgrade available |
Pontoon, tent, patio, golf cart, and ATV cab enclosures typically use clear vinyl in .015″, .020″, .030″, or .040″ gauge, all in 54″ width. Lighter gauges flex and fold more easily, and heavier gauges add body and durability.
Frequently Asked Questions for PVC Film Enclosures
Does Adams Plastics offer UV-resistant clear PVC for outdoor enclosures?
Yes, UV-stabilized options are available in both our Prime Cristal Clear Low Temp line and select gauges of Double Polish Clear Soft. We recommend UV-stabilized films for any enclosure that stays up through the changing seasons, from pontoon panels and patio enclosures to tent sidewalls and golf cart or ATV cab covers.
What’s the difference between Prime Cristal Clear and Double Polish Clear Soft?
Prime Cristal Clear is a premium calendered PVC film made on upgraded production lines with an added cooling stage at the end of the process. Finished rolls then rest in a special cooling room for 48 hours. The result is our highest level of optical clarity.
Double Polish Clear Soft still offers good transparency at a lower cost, which is why it’s a common choice for golf cart and ATV cab enclosures and general enclosure work. For applications that require the clearest visibility, such as pontoon windows and higher-end patio installations, Prime Cristal is typically recommended.
What thickness of clear vinyl should I use for a golf cart or ATV cab enclosure?
Most golf cart and ATV cab enclosures use .015″, .020″, .030″, or .040″, depending upon the specific requirements. The lighter end of that range is a great option for soft enclosure panels that need to be unzipped or frequently rolled. Heavier gauges provide more body and strength for fixed panels.
Do you carry fire-retardant clear vinyl for commercial event tents?
Yes, our Soft Clear with Fire Retardant line meets flame-spread requirements and carries UV stabilization and cold-crack resistance. We keep .020″ in stock, and any gauge in the .015″ to .040″ range can be produced with fire retardant. Contact us for lead times on non-stock gauges.
